About me

Hey I’m Qiang, welcome to my homepage!

I’m a Principal Investigator under the Hundred Talents Program at Zhejiang University.

Before joining Zhejiang University, I was a postdoctoral research fellow in machine learning working with Prof. Emine Yilmaz, affiliated with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in University College London (UCL). I studied for the Ph.D. in UCL as well. Prior to that, I obtained M.Sc. from Chinese Academy of Sciences and B.Sc. from Shandong University.

I have wide connections with academic and industrial collaborators. I received grants from Google, Nvidia and Microsoft Research, and had internships in Amazon and Facebook AI Research. I have been closely collaborating with the Institute for Medical Engineering & Science in MIT and Mila in Montreal.

My research interests lie in the area of machine learning and span the entire theory-to-application spectrum from fundamental advances (e.g., Bayesian inference and meta learning) to practical progress (e.g., text mining, sequential data modeling). My research has been applied to text classification, knowledge graphs, information retrieval, recommender systems, and misinformation detection. Recently, I am mainly focusing on AI applications to scientific discovery.
